Take a Bus to/from Nazca in Peru!
This fasinating place called Nazca holds one of the most intriguing mysteries of mankind: The Nazca lines. In this desert region, hundreds of huge lines were constructed by the Nazca people, but you cannot see them if you walk the area as they are only visible from the sky. Located on an area of about 500 square kilometers, most of the lines form great drawings of animals, plants and geometric figures.
The lines remained hidden and forgotten for many years until Paul Kosok discovered them in 1939 when he was flying in the area. These days you have the great opportunity to see them in a 30 minute over flight. The experience is just indescribable and is really worth your time.
Many theories have been conjured to interpret their meaning and mysterious construction, but so far no one has fully explained them. The German mathematician Maria Reiche spent many years in the region studying the lines. She proposed the lines were an astronomic calendar for agronomic purposes. Some more fantastic theories say that they were a message for the gods or even for extraterrestrials. Others say they were just sacred sites.
The only truth is that these amazing lines were built by the Nazca culture from about 900 B.C to 600 A.D. and that you are invited to come and enjoy them!
