Huacachina/Ica
Just 5 kilometers from Ica is the amazing Huacachina Oasis. This unique place used to be a high class destination in the 1940s, visited by artists and politicians. The place is an incredible lake in the middle of a desert surrounded by palm trees and many nice buildings. There are still some built survivors from its glorious past like the Mossone Hotel and Salvatierra Hotel. The nice climate, beautiful views and the healing properties of the lake water made this place great for a vacation.
These days Huacachina has become a Mecca for backpackers that come to enjoy the spectacular sand boarding and dune-buggy rides through the fantastic scenery. It is also a great place for motocross lovers.
