Available all year, this is the perfect Inca Trail alternative! The trek will pass through rich pastoral areas of the Cordillera of Urubamba, snow peaks and subtropical valleys, scenic lagoons, natural hot springs and Inca remains. As a remote location, the area has allowed it's people to preserve traditions of working llama and alpaca wool and leather, the cultivation of potatoes, and colorful handmade Inca woven garments. This Tour is an amazing experience to learn about the customs and the experiences of the Andean people.

Trek Details - Lares Trek - 4 days / 3 night

Duration: 4 days / 3 night

Includes: Pick-up from the hostel, Bus transportation Cusco / Calca / Lares, Professional English and Spanish speaking guide, Entrance to Machu Picchu, Meals (3 breakfasts, 3 lunches, 3 dinners.), Chef, Horses and porters (only for camp equipment and food), Camp equipment (dorm-tent, kitchen-tent, sleeping mats, tables, chairs, etc..), Return train (Ollantaytambo / Aguas Calientes / Ollantaytambo), 1 night accommodation in a hostel in Aguas Calientes (private toilet and hot water), Bus transportation Ollantaytambo / Cusco.

Doesn't include: breakfast on the first day (it is normally given by the hostel where are you staying), personal porters (for bags and sleeping bags), Food in Aguas Calientes, bus Machu Picchu / Aguas Calientes (Some people prefer to walk this), sleeping bag (US$15).

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: CUSCO - LARES - WACAHUASI

Transfer from the hotel at 5:00am and drive to the town of Lares: on the way we can appreciate the majestic Sacred Valley with its fertile lands. Arriving at the small village of Calca (2940m above sea level) we will start our trek, passing through the small villages of Totora and Maucaupata, where people dress in traditional dress and are largely devoted to textiles, agriculture and livestock. Finally, after a journey of approx. 4 hours we arrive at Lares (3,200m above sea level) and visit of the hot springs for a refreshing swim. After lunch, we will start the walk toward our first camp in Wacawasi (3600m above sea level).

Day 02: WACAHUASI - IPSAYCOCHA - PATACANCHA

After breakfast we began the trek toward our second camp. This day will start early in the morning to give us the chance to climb through the Ipsay Qasa Pass, where we will appreciate how the way different rural communities live. Arriving at the Ipsaycocha lagoon we will enjoy lunch, and after a short nap, we will continue towards the town of Patacancha to spend our second night.

Day 03: PATACANCHA - WILLOQ - OLLANTAYTAMBO

After breakfast we continue our walk to the small town of Willoq, a village where people still live in traditional ways. In the course of our walk we will also pass through small villages where we can see the archaeological remains of Pumamarca Qochapata. At approximately 2:00 pm we will arrive to the town of Ollantaytambo, after lunch we have free time until 7:30pm, when we will board the train to Aguas Calientes. We will spend our last night in a hostel with private bathroom and hot water.

Day 04: MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO

This morning we depart very early to walk to the Inca city of Machu Picchu for sunrise, and then have a guided tour of about 2.5 hrs after which we have free time until 5:00pm. At 9:30pm we will board the train to return to Ollantaytambo and then to Cusco by bus.
