Amazon Ecological Expedition Trip Details
Day 1 Manaus - Urubu River Ecological Lodge
07:00am, transfer from your accomodation in Manaus to the bus terminal, then travel by regional bus for 3 hours, stopping after one hour for 10 minutes before continuing the 1 hour and 50 minutes before arriving at Lindoia village. Here you will travel with our motorized canoe for 1 hour until your arrival to our beautiful Ecological Lodge on the banks of the Urubu river. On arrival the guide will show you around and you can take a swim before lunch.
After lunch you will have some time to try out the hammocks before we go for a canoe trip through the small channels looking for the Pink or Grey Amazon dolphins and paddle through the flooded forest (depending on the water level). Later we will go piranha fishing and see the sun set at the end of the day. Back to the camp for dinner, and then we will hop back in the canoe to search for alligators (caimans) during the night. The guide will try to catch one to give you explanation about the species before throwing it back to nature. Return to the lodge to fall asleep to the sounds of the jungle.

Day 2 Camping in the Jungle
After breakfast we prepare for a jungle walk in search of monkeys and to learn about the medical plants and trees with explanation from our English speaking guide. We will look for tarantula Spiders and other insects. After a couple of hours it's time to go back to the camp for lunch. After the lunch we will prepare for our overnight stay in the jungle and then take a beautiful walk through the jungle with many very big old trees. You will just take a little backpack with you and one of our hammocks, and walk through the jungle before stopping to make camp. The guide will prepare basic shelter and then dinner in the jungle. After dinner relax with the sounds of the nocturnal animals of the forest.

Day 3 Ecological Lodge - Manaus
Breakfast in the jungle and then another walk trying to find animals and to learn more about the jungle with the explanation from our experienced guide, before heading back to the lodge to take a swim in the Urubu river. After lunch you will make the journey back to your accommodation in Manaus arriving around 17:00pm.

Continuing from Day 3: Breakfast in the jungle and then another walk trying to find animals and to learn more about the jungle with the explanation from our experienced guide, before heading back to the lodge to take a swim in the Urubu river.
After the lunch break, you will visit a native Caboclo family (indigenous from the area) to get explications from the guide about what they do to survive in these areas. Then you return to the lodge at the end of the day, dinner and relax.
Day 4: You have an early start today to enjoy the beautiful Amazon sunrise. After breakfast you will learn about the Mandioca (cassava) process and participate in making some authentic Indian handicrafts. After lunch you will start the journey back to Manaus, arriving around 17.00 pm.

Optional Add-on 4 night/ 5 day
Day 4: Continuing on from the third day you will camp another night, and look for monkeys and other animals. With the extra day exploring, you will have a better chance to learn about and to see more of the real Amazon jungle during the trip. You will walk for approximately 5 hours today, and also you will visit a native Caboclos home (indigenous from the area) to see their way of living, and to learn what the natives do to survive in the forest without destroying it, learn hunting skills without any modern weapons, and the guide will make tasty food the Amazonian way. You will be eating from big leaves instead of plates and using wooden spoons made by you and the guide. Tonight you sleep between the trees above the water (depending on season) which is a great experience to talk about when you get home, then you will travel back to the lodge to sleep the 4th night.
Day 5: Sunrise tour, breakfast in the lodge and learn about the extraction of Mandioca (Cassava) and the processes involved to make farinha (farina), the guide will teach you how to make necklace, hand bands or blow pipes for hunting; and you can take these back with you as souvenirs. After lunch you will start our journey back to Manaus, arriving around 16.30 pm.

Facilities and Accommodation
At the Ecological Lodge you sleep in hammocks (provided) under shelter. You have the option to upgrade to shared rooms with shared bathrooms, or private rooms with ensuite. The lodge has toilets, showers, dining room and kitchen. All of the food from the first days lunch to the last days lunch is included as part of the tour and is all prepared for you. Vegetarian options available!
You can buy soft drinks, beers and snacks.
The Lodge has a canopy tower from where you can look-out over the jungle and the river. Sometimes even spotting fresh water dolphins.
When camping you will be sleeping in hammocks strung from trees, and temporary shelter will be made from bus materials by your guide. Some guests don't like to go camping in the jungle, so you are able to sleep at the lodge every night and do the activities during the day.
