Ilha Grande Transfers the Easy Way!
The Green Toad Bus has direct transfers to Ilha Grande from Rio de Janeiro and Paraty using 10 seat passenger transport vehicles. Of course Ilha Grande is an island and you need a boat to get there, but don't worry, we will include your boat trip to Ilha Grande as well. From Rio the van makes pick-ups around the city, while at the same time a van picks-up from around the town of Paraty before both vehicles meet a private boat docked at the coastal town of Conceicao de Jacarei. The boat trip across to Ilha Grande takes about 30 minutes and allows you great views as you aproach the tropical Island.
Save the stress of figuring out how to get to Ilha Grande from Rio de Janeiro on your own by local transport. The Rio bus terminal is a little far from where most people stay in the Southern Zone of Rio (Copacbana, Ipanema & Botafogo). A taxi there alone will cost you at least $15 USD, and then you have to hope there is availability on your bus. When you arrive at the other end you then have to take another taxi from the bus terminal in Angra dos Reis to the docks hoping you are in time for the daily ferry. Instead, let us pick you up from Rio on our daily backpacker transfer service which collects you from your door and transfers you to an included boat to Ilha Grande. You also usually arrive before 3pm which is earlier than the daily local ferry to Ilha Grande from Angra dos Reis!
Similarly, our transfer from Paraty to Ilha Grande makes life easier. The transfer sets out each morning picking people up from their hostels or pousadas. You will then make the trip 2.5 hours north to meet the boat to Ilha Grande.

From Rio the pick-up from the Southern Zone (Ipanema, Copacabana, Leblon, Leme) will be between 10:30 & 11:30am at your accommodation, if your accommodation is located in Botafogo or Flamengo then pick-up should be closer to 11:30am, and for the areas of Central, Lapa and Santa Teresa expect it closer to 12:00 midday.
The boat arrives to Ilha Grande at the Aquario Hostel docks which is a 10 minute walk from the centre of Villa de Abraao. Walking to the centre of town is via the beach and not suited to baggage on wheels.
