Included Activity in Bonito, Brazil
Snorkeling Rio do Prata

By far the best and clearest of the rivers in Bonito, with the largest amount of fish, is the Rio do Prata (river of silver). The river is 1 hour 10mins, from downtown Bonito. When you arrive you will be put into a group with a maximum of eight and given your wetsuits and snorkels, there are changing rooms and showers for your use. There is the opportunity to rent under-water camera's for R$35, it's a good thing to do within your group. You then drive to the drop off point from where you will walk through a wooded area for 30 minutes to the bank of the Rio do Prata. Along the way, amidst the rich flora, it is possible to observe birds and other wild animals.
Your guide will explain the tour to you and then you hop into the water and start the tour by seeing the natural springs where the river begins while getting used to your snorkel's. After this you will float down the river for 2 km's, seeing all of the fish and springs along the way. The wetsuits will keep you afloat and the rivers current will take you down stream, so it is not important to be a strong swimmer but life vests are available. You will float downstream until the meeting of Olho D'Água and Prata rivers while you enjoy the sight of dozens of different species of fish and aquatic plants. At this point, you can choose to either continue floating or embark on a small boat with electric motor until the end of tour. The visitor also has the option to not descend the river, and float around the main spring, and afterwards take a small boat ride on the Prata River.
You will be in the water for approx 1 hour 45 mins. After the tour you will be taken back to the farm, where you will be given time to get changed and relax in hammocks. There is a fantastic buffet lunch on offer.
Please note that on this excursion it is forbidden to touch or disrupt the river beds as this will only make the water murky and impair the vision of other people. Also you are not allowed to wear sun screen as this will taint the water. With the Rio do Prata excursion, your wetsuits finish above the knee, so your calf's and neck will sometimes be exposed to the sun.
To ensure quality, safety and respect for nature, the groups are limited to a maximum of nine visitors and are always accompanied by a specialized, local guide. The whole tour lasts approximately 3h30min.
The proper equipment for the snorkeling is provided and includes neoprene wetsuits and shoes, mask and snorkel. Equipment is included in the tour, as well as accident insurance and the tour guide. For your comfort and convenience the ranch offers a bar and a shop.
*Note: Lunch after the tour is available, but not included in your tour
